Wren
Wren
Age: 21
Dreamscapes: Ladder of Chaos, AL
Race: Human (LoC), Demon/elf halfling (AL)
Gender: Female
Weapon: none
Occupation: scientist/Lyrhaven ambassador (LoC), freelance magician (AL)
Loyalty: Lyrhaven (LoC), outlaw (AL)
Personality: She's an intellectual; she loves to experiment with new things. She tests the boundaries, of the natural laws and the kingdom's laws and the social laws of dealing with individuals. She couldn't care less if she hurts your feelings, so long as you're competent and get the job done. She orders people around even though most of the time, she has no authority to. Her rudeness has gained her a small handful of admirers and a much larger crowd of enemies. Not like she cares, though. She's very aware of the way she acts, but she just expects people to deal with it. She can get possessive of people; she will claim a person as hers even if they don't want to be claimed. But she's not all bad. She'll make sure you're never bored, because she'll make sure she's never bored. Boredom is the worst thing ever as far as she's concerned, and causing trouble and getting into fights is much more preferable to that.
LoC-specific: Wren has three loyalties: first to herself, then to science, then to those she deems worthy enough to care about. Family and kingdom ties mean nothing to her - all that matters is the person. It's a good thing there are people in her kingdom and family she loves, then, because otherwise she would have committed treason years ago. As a scientist, she is relentless, constantly driven to keep going and seek out the answers she's looking for. As an ambassador, she's a little... less than diplomatic, perhaps, but she is not one to let her ego and pride get in the way of her job. She is effective, cool, and loves to play. People are the most interesting toys, but she protects her favorites with her life.
AL-specific: She is a magic user. It's the one defining trait she uses on herself: she is a magician, and she'll fix all your problems. Maybe. She advertises herself as a freelance magician that does tasks ranging from ensuring your baby will be a boy to creating the perfect feast in under an hour to moving a house seven and a half inches to the right. She's good at what she does, so she charges high prices. And if you can't pay, you might find yourself with a baby who constantly hisses in Latin, or a dinner that gives food poisoning to exactly five people, or a house that also sinks seven and a half inches into the soil. She serves the people, yes, but most of all she serves herself.

Nathanial (Nat)
Nathaniel James Arthurson (AL), Nat Ometecutlitonacacihuatl (LoC)
Age: oldish but appears in his early twenties (AL), 20 (LoC)
Dreamscapes: AL, LoC
Race: Vampire/elf halfling (AL)
Gender: Male
Weapon: none
Powers: Protected Senses, Pain Manipulation, Empathetic Hearing, Light Mimicry, Omniscience (AL)
Occupation: Marquise (AL), Noble (LoC)
Loyalty: Bureaucracy (AL), Ometecutlitonacacihuatl (LoC)
Description: So soft-looking, so innocent. He looks like you could break him in two, but you shouldn't try to - he's much stronger than he appears. He's pale all-over: pale skin, fair hair, and eyes so light and colorless they seem to hold no soul. He has that face that makes it look like he wants to murder whatever it is he's looking at. His choice of attire makes it easy for people to distinguish him from his twin, because otherwise it would be too difficult to tell them apart.
Personality: He's full of contradictions. He loathes politics, and yet he plans to become heir. He wouldn't make a good king; he's much too quiet, much too cold and calculating. He wouldn't make a good king, but he'd make an excellent ruler. Someone else can do all the speechmaking and shaking hands. That wouldn't be his job; his job would be to maintain peace. He wouldn't say he loves his kingdom because he doesn't love anything, really. Or at least, he doesn't show what he loves. Nat is hard to read. Having been raised in the bureaucracy, he knows all the rules of their games, and the biggest rule is to not let anyone in. Only Hal, his twin brother, gets access. But why does Nat want to be heir? What does Nat want at all? That's a good question, and one you won't ever get an answer to. He's a prince with secrets, a prince that trusts no one but the brother he entered the world with. He has power: social power, as a Marquise. Physical powers, inherited from his parents. And intellectual power. He knows things. He's good at playing the game. He hates the game, but he plays it, because winning is the only way to end it.
